Aarons.cc straightened us out (in a nice way) on how we should have summarized their position in the previous roundup. The Jawa Report has their typically detailed reporting showing why they are the first and last place to check on a story like this.

Absinthe & Cookies had two follow-up pieces addressing the problematic issues of radical Islam. While you are there, look at her posting on terror sites in California. (Hint: during elevated terror alerts don’t play Putt-Putt golf unless you like to live on the edge.)

Captain’s Quarter noted that the Islamic lunatics who bombed London learned that it was a mistake to expect the Brits to react as the Spaniards did after Madrid.

Calmafia brought the message home that it could happen here by way of his many posts on the suspected Lodi terrorists.

Daily Pundit has its typically excellent coverage over multiple postings the most important of which is that Britain needs to mind the gap between the strategy one uses to catch the perpetrators of this attack and the strategy you need to stop the next bunch.

Indepundit has several good posts and updates on what is happening in London (as well as the violence a little closer to home in San Francisco) 

and Body Parts has 15 (and counting) postings on the topic.

As a sign that things are returning somewhat to normal, postings from the lighter side of the BFL:

Caltech girl had a terrorist-level trackback spam scare fortunately thwarted by selfless passersby, while we at Independent Sources reported that Gov. Arnold’s spokesman is getting just a little bit too much mileage out of his Tom Cruise joke and on why FNC’s Bill O’Reilly is calling LA Times music writer Robert Hilburn a “liar” (update: prompted by coverage in the blogosphere the Times just issued a correction). 

Coffee with Cranky Beach outed a troll (we’ve got a few that could use the same treatment). Da Goddess hit 400k (odd, don’t look a day over 350k). GayPatriot is having too much fun on his boat trip as evidenced by this satirical post. Lex Communis provides a great link to the 125 questions that science does not yet have an answer for (#126 is why are people paying to see “Fantastic Four?”).

Finally, big props to Tan Horizon for shield law/MSM interplay, Window Manager for the graphic that will be familiar to anyone who has ever done a business deal, and Baldilocks for reminding the left what the words “supporting our troops” means. (Let’s put it is way, there are quite a few people out there sporting “support” bumper stickers that shouldn’t be).

Two years ago today, I started the Bear Flag League along with a half dozen cohorts to give a larger, more visible presence to the conservative voice in California. As we’ve grown to over 100 bloggers and applications for membership come in at a clip that will cause us to double in size in the next 3-6 months or limit membership, I wonder when we’ll be “legitimate”. When does that viewpoint become just the other side of the aisle?

While London may be 6,000 miles away from California, we share so many bonds with Londoners that the attack on their city feels like an attack in our state. Below is a sampling of how various bloggers in the 100+ member Bear Flag League responded to the bombings as well as their respective viewpoints and emotions.  Additions may be found in the comment section below.

The Jawa report had numerous postings and updates and probably the most comprehensive coverage of the BFL. Citizen Smash also had numerous posts with detailed information and additional links covering all aspects of the attacks. They also had a picture of the raising of the Union Jack over the State Department—a first for a foreign flag.

Independent Sources  put up several posts throughout the day covering the initial responses of various Arabic and Islamic online news services and the reaction of the U.S.financial markets. Also included were musings whether Brits will someday say “we are all Angelenos.”

Calblog put the reaction in the first person as Justene described the wake-up call she got from her daughter telling her about the attack. Calblog also included insightful links to London bloggers.Also in the first person, Gay Patriot saw the pain via a young British crew member he came across. Gay Patriot also included links to British Consulates in the U.S. so people can go pay their respects.

Captains Quarters: Posted about the inherent strength of the British character as has been exhibited in  in the war against Hitler. In a second post predicted that unlike what happened in Spain in London the attackers have underestimated their expected victims. On a similar note, In Re believes the typical British response will be “Is that the best you can do?”

Daily Pundit had a series of posts wondering why the west has such a difficult time understanding how radical Islamic terrorists pick targets. They also shared the rage they felt as the news of the attacks sunk in. Diggers Realm also warned countries like France and Canada who might think they are immune to Islamic attacks (noting that Canada has over 50 such groups within its borders).

Infinite Monkeys credited Bush and Blair for making terrorism a losing strategy and limiting attacks to about 1 a year instead of monthly. In a second post they contrast the motivations and likely outcomes of attacks to the Live 8 concerts.SoCalPundit argued that by striking Britain at a time when popularity for the War in Iraq is at its lowest, the terrorists of Al Qaeda may have made a huge tactical mistake. He also complemented John McCain’s “fight ‘em where they are” comments.

Patterico notes that the London terror attacks are a stark reminder that the war on terror is global. He also linked to and concurred with a suggestion that the blogosphere refrain from political point scoring for a day. QandO: Provided links to: 1) an interesting WSJ story on the role of bloggers and photographers in the developing London story; and 2) to a statement from “libertarian communists” (as Q and O says “who knew”?).Baldilocks provided numerous updates, excerpts and links and finally submits that, in the War on Terror, there is no such thing as a “chickenhawk.”

Mayor Sam covered the Los Angeles press conference on the attacks as well as the actions of LA’s mayor Antonio Villaraigosa during the day. Master of None reminded us Thomas Jefferson’s quote that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance.

Emotions were still flying high at Aaron’s CC as they went to print. Aaron’s asserted an extremely aggressive stance similar to the way that Japanese militancy was ultimately dealt with in WWII. The Daily Blitz had an even more extreme approach to radicalism.

While the opinions and approaches of the various BFL members varied, sometimes greatly, we were united in sending our prayers and wishes to the people of London.
