FactCheck.org tells us that
A liberal, labor-funded group calling itself Americans United for Change (previously Americans United to Preserve Social Security) is running a $1-million national advertising campaign that makes some dubious claims and tries to imply more than it can prove.
Talk about rebranding! They used to be in favor of preserving the status quo, but […]

Who is this being that looks and sounds like John Kerry but responds succinctly and directly?
Standing outside the big white government mansion he had hoped to call home, Sen. John Kerry on Thursday offered a terse assessment of how he lost last year’s election to a president whose approval ratings are now in the tank.
“9/11,” […]

Just because you are dead, do you really lose your ability to vote? Not in New Jersey:
“… an estimated 13,000 people who apparently have died remain on voter registration lists, including 4,755 people who reportedly voted in last November’s election.”
But what does Paris Hilton think of this?

Writing about complaints from the left about Senator Hillary Clinton, Mayor Sam wonders
Along with Hilary’s recent stance against illegal immigration, it leads me to be a bit cynical. Could these be orchestrated attempts to distance Hilary from the extreme left? In order to avoid the fate of Al Gore or John Kerry, to capture the […]

From the Democratic Party web site:
Without Social Security, Poverty Rate for Hispanic Seniors Would Increase Three-Fold. If not for Social Security, the poverty rate for older Hispanic Americans would nearly triple from 19% to 55%. 41% of older Hispanic beneficiaries rely on Social Security for their only source of retirement income.
This certainly is a […]

Patrick Ruffini :: September Straw Poll: Tag the Vote
Patrick Ruffini has a new poll going for 2008 and as a twist allows you to see how others with similar political priorities have voted. He wisely takes the term “tags” and applies it to his polling thereby immediately attracting the Technorati and Flickr crowds. It makes […]

In case you missed my earlier post on Tobacco and the Flat Tax, I’m new to Independent Sources. I go by Moon and I host Moonage Webdream.
If Starbucks is featured at the 2006 DNC, Kerry is once again their candidate of choice for 2008. If it’s Dunkin Donuts, Hillary is in for 2008.
How do I know […]

I wish all the mean people, if you want to be mean to each other, just buy a country together and blow each other up. Then we’d have no terrorists left. Like, don’t kill innocent people for no reason. It’s not fair. We love everybody. We’d even like them if they said they’re sorry. It’s […]

The Seattle Post-Intelligence called it a variation of “the operation was a success but the patient died,” others weren’t so nice. They were referring to the upbeat assessment of the ill-fated 2004 campaign for the White House given by Sen. John Kerry during a 34-minute speech to 750 members of the Democratic Legislative Campaign […]

Fortunately one of Independent Sources’ favorite econoblogs caught the story below from the Scotsman which we might have otherwise missed.
FRANCE is facing an unprecedented new-generation exodus as many of its disillusioned younger people leave in search of a better life abroad.
Fed up with a country they describe as rigid, racist and old-fashioned, French youngsters are […]

The Los Angeles Times has a page one story today on Hillary Clinton’s efforts to be seen as a centrist:
In New York, where she is running for reelection in 2006, and in the Senate, where she is shaping her national persona, Clinton is moving to shed the partisan image she acquired as first lady.
She has […]

Independent Sources was pleased to see that the majority of blogs that we surveyed had resisted taking the low road and pointing out the obvious irony concerning Senator Clinton’s comments about the video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,” which contains sexual imagery (including oral sex) that could be accessed by young teens.
