Noooo!!!! Warp Drives Impossible Under Quantum Mechanics
Geek Dreams of banging 7 of 9 and M’chell Obama’s dreams of attending a Klingon family reunion dashed
For years (1908 – 1994) the idea of faster than light travel was considered impossible under the strictures of E=MC^2. Then some superbrain figured out that while General Relativity prevents an object from moving faster that the speed of light in relationship to the universe (spacetime) it doesn’t prevent portions of spacetime from moving faster than the speed of light in relationship to each other. So encapsulate an object in a bubble of space time and zoom off to wherever.
Hurray!!! Klingons and Romulans here we come to kick some butt!!!
Not so fast.
Not content to leave well enough alone a different group of physicists just had to drag Quantum Mechanics into the equation. Apparently under their calculations a warp bubble would be unstable at speeds faster than light and the dream is dead again. Butthooks!
Of course we could just go the Eric Holder route when we and fire these scientists and find a group that is willing to defend the idea of a sustainable warp field and sign off on it. Just like he did when exploring the constitutionality of giving Washington D.C. a representative in congress. But I digress.
Back on point here is what we should be aiming for and I personally will not be satisfied until we have a working warp drive which enables us to go forth and seek her out:

You’re just damned intent on ruining my Monday. Well, I read the entire warp drive discussion. If the discussion is symbolic of the effort put into the disproving warp drives, I am qutie confident warp drives will work flawlessly whenever we can master enough speed to go beyond our moon in a lifetime.
