Kevin Roderick Is Giving John Edwards “Love Child” A Lot of Love; We’re Loving It!

The John Edwards “Love Child” story (originally broken at the end of 2007, National Enquirer above) became a local (that is Los Angeles) story when the National Enquirer story wrote that John Edwards left the Beverly Hilton room of Rielle Hunter recently at 2:30 am. Despite this the LA Times has continued a hands off approach to the topic. Why? LA Observed’s Kevin Roderick has the answer referencing a LA Times internal email surfaced by media watcher Mickey Kaus:

In a move that has apparently stirred up some internal discontent, the Los Angeles Times has banned its bloggers, including political bloggers, from mentioning the Edwards/Rielle Hunter story. Even bloggers who want to mention the story in order to make a skeptical we-don’t-trust-the-Enquirer point are forbidden from doing so.

Much more on Edwards Love Child here.

I guess this is more of that “two Americas” John Edwards was talking about. One America is where you sanctimoniously pose for family pictures with your wife and family. The “other” America is where you bang the crap out of the Reille Hunter’s of the world in hotel rooms around the country. Why the media is so infatuated with this guy is one of the bigger mysterious of the this election.

All I keep thinking is, if it had been a Republican (like Romney), the NY Times would have broken the story five minutes after they heard the first rumor, and photoshopped an illustration of what it Might Have Looked Like.
