Quiz Show: What will Sean Penn say about the killings at the anti-Chavez protests?
Hugo Chavez was a convenient ally for Hollywood liberals (”useful idiots” as Lenin called such tools) when they wanted a worldwide media platform to broadcast their political views. However Sean Penn, Harry Belafonte and others aren’t looking so good these days and every time an anti-Chavez protester is arrested or killed they look quite a bit worse. At some point Penn and others will be forced to comment on the violence protests and the anti-democratic moves by Chavez that sparked them.
Which of the three possible approaches do you think Mr. Penn and others will take?
1. Blame everything on imperialistic American policies that have manipulated the student movement (ignoring the fact that even George Bush couldn’t put 80,000 anti-Chavez students in the street and there is no media to manipulate since the one anti-Chavez TV station was shut down). Sample quote: “There is reason to believe that foreign interests hostile to Mr. Chavez’s government are involved with the recent disturbances in Venezuela.” (Perhaps it’s the same people who blew up Building 7?).
2. Focus the conversation on what Chavez is doing to help the poor. Look at all of the land he has taken back from powerful landowners they might say (ignoring the fact that he is taking the land from political opponents and putting it in the hands of supporters a la Robert Mugabe). Sample quote: “When you are working on behalf of the 80% of the population that is poor, there are going to be bumps along the way from established interests who do not want to see those people helped.”
3. Move the topic to Iraq even though that has nothing to do with Venezuela by saying something like “George Bush kills more people in Iraq every day than are killed in Venezuela in a month.”
I’m interested in what others think but to me #3 looks like the winner.

I’m pretty sure it will be all of the above. In fact I can write the statement that Penn, Carter et.al. right now:
I can almost guarantee you that if I were to go someplace like wizbang which has a lot of trolls (or if I had posting privleges at DKos) and posted that it would get support.
