Ward Churchill’s 15 minutes are up; To be fired today

Today is the day (or is it?) most of us have been waiting for: The day Professor Ward Churchill is weaned from the public teat. For nearly two decades, Churchill has been lying, fabricating, and plagiarizing his way toward this day, and we’re just glad we were able to be here to share it with him.
For those of you who don’t know who he is, Churchill pretended to be a native American to get a job at the University of Colorado. While CU has pretty low academic standards (see their football team if you doubt this), Churchill fell below even those. He has spent his time there drooling about this and that and hawking his “Indian” art. Because it is academia, it has taken years to fire his ass, even after it was found out that he lied to get the job and committed plagiarism while there. Remember this is CU so you have to be particularly awful to stand out.
Even when he isn’t lying about his credentials, background or race or even plagiarizing, he’s writing incoherent nonsense. From our post “Why Johnny Can’t Read“:
Professor Ward L. Churchill has published a paper comparing the people killed in the 9/11 attacks to the Nazi who helped plan the Holocaust. In Churchill’s essay titled “Some People Push Back: On the Justice of Roosting Chickens,” Churchill called the workers killed in the WTC “little Eichmanns” after the Nazi Adolf Eichmann who helped mastermind the murder of European Jews during WWII. Churchill said that trade center employees were “technocrats of empire” working for the “engines of profit” and as such were inevitable targets.

I have to question your premise. Now that he’s fired, doesn’t that turn him into a martyr, a downtrodden victim of The Man? Much as I’d like to believe that this psychotic scumbag’s minutes of fame are over, I doubt we’ve heard the last of him.
Still, the news itself is damn good, albeit hideously overdue.

I’m just happy that he loses the credibility of being a professor. Also he’s no longer on the state’s payroll. No we haven’t seen the last of him and it will be many, many moons for his various lawsuits to play out.

In Colorado, Ward Churchill had a friend, Ruben G. Mendoza, a teaching assistant at the University of Colorado, Denver. Ruben’s department Chair Dr. Lorna Moore, for abusing students, booted Ruben from the university, against which Mendoza promptly filed suit. Mendoza resurfaced and got fast-tracked to tenure through one Steven F. Arvizu, at CSU Monterey Bay.
Mendoza became the nosebleed of the fledgling university. Churchill was invited to CSUMB by Ruben to speak at a weeklong gathering of the clan. Mendoza has also engaged in academic misconduct for years, so far without consequence. The Duke lacrosse team fiasco shows that liberal educators have created a phony cultural paradigm that distorts reality. And, miscreants like Churchill and Mendoza do not exist in a vacuum but have powerful political backers.
