It’s being called the worst application of all time; Second Life meets Outlook

Here is how they describe themselves:

E-mail is the killer app, but it’s deadly boring. Have fun with 3D Mailbox!

3D Mailbox delivers a fantastic, smarter e-mail experience. Immerse yourself in 3-D as you read and write your mail. Relax to the sounds of the ocean, seagulls, and cool tunes. Hang with your mail poolside, or feed your spam to the sharks! Deleting spam is so much fun, you may wish you had more!

Here is a link to their trailer. Watch it if you dare.

From TechCrunch:

Do you find dealing with email boring? Would your day be brighter if your email was rendered as characters in a SecondLife style universe, complete with spam eating sharks? Were you dropped on your head as a child? Introducing 3D Mailbox.

We get to see a lot of new products and services at TechCrunch, many of them bad; usually it’s a case that they won’t get a run. Then there are those that are so bad they a worthy of mention. Crunchgear’s John Biggs summed it up well in an email to me (see their very brief coverage here): “I was so disgusted that I couldn’t write anymore”.

The Times Online and the Guardian were even harsher in their critiques.

It’s okay if something is boring if it is functional.
