Journalistic Ethics now an Oxymoron; Chicago’s Amy Jacobson joins Mirthala Salinas in the poor judgment department

Amy Jacobson is a not bad looking newscaster with Chicago’s WMAQ-Channel 5. However at some point she decided that frolicking with Craig Stebic, who’d she met while covering the mysterious disappearance of his estranged wife, was worth risking her job for. Well at least that is what it looks like in an edited videotape of the bikini clad Jacobson at the missing woman’s home.

Perhaps she was just showing some flesh to help loosen the tongue of Stebic as to what happened to his wife.

Throughout her 11 years at the station, Jacobson has been known as an aggressive reporter who ingratiates herself with sources and sometimes employs questionable methods to get stories. Though she was a lightning rod for rumors, her bosses generally looked the other way and praised her for bringing them the scoops.

Jacobsen says that it was all innocent and that other mothers were there as were her children. Regardless of her motive, she blames the edited video for losing the job. We think it was more likely the fat guy without the shirt who she was hanging with. This is the same man who the now missing woman described as “unnecessarily relentless, cruel, inconsiderate, domineering and verbally abusive.” In other words, just the kind of man you go to his house and strip down for. Besides being a creep and the last person to see his estranged wife, Stebic is refusing to cooperate with police and refusing to take a lie detector test. (Also, in 1995, Stebic was arrested after police found a 10-gauge double-barrel shotgun, a .44 magnum semi-automatic pistol, a Ruger Mini-14 assault rifle and an AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle in his 1998 Toyota pickup.)

Even if Jacobson was not a reporter on the Stebic story, a woman goes missing on April 30th and you are dancing around in a bikini in the missing woman’s home 9 weeks later?

First Salinas sleeps with Villaraisgosa while reporting on him. Now Jacobson is bikini clad with a shirtless man who’s been all over the Chicago media since his wife disappeared in April. Any bets on the next shoe to drop?

    Amy deserves a purple heart! The statistics over women being killed by their husbands are staggering, and the blantant blame of Amy’s so called “lack of judgement” is so pervasively stupid. Mr. Stebic wasn’t even considered a suspect by the police. She was invited to a pool party by his sisters with their kids. She just went. So what?! Everyone’s harsh judgement of Amy after the fact is nothing more than a reflection everyone on the planet knows he’s guilty. They just decide to take it out on the attrative woman in the picture cause it’s just so easy to do! It’s absoultely sickening. The only good thing: the police finally say he’s a suspect. Amy sacrificed her job for that. Amy, from the bottom of my very heart, THANK YOU FOR BEING SO BRAVE! All women who have dealt with abusive husbands thank you.

    So she takes her kids to a pool party of a guy she thinks killed his wife some weeks before? That would count as an even greater “lack of judgment.”

    While I can’t blame Lisa Stebic’s family for trying to keep the issue of her disappearance circulating in the media, I do find the fact that the media keeps running segments with no tangible developments to be both unprofessional and unethical. The liberally dominated media does not continue to regurgitate stories about missing children or women when there are no new or few new developments in cases involving minority communities.

    So here we have a typical liberal conundrum. While they purport to advance minority causes and issues they ultimately fail to reflect fairness in their propensity to push missing person cases like Lisa Stebic’s over those involving missing minority persons.

    Former NBC reporter Amy Jacobson’s bimbosity served to display the lengths some in her field will go to promote stories that they believe are . Jacobson choose to include her children in her appearance at the Stebic residence displaying a complete lack of judgment by placing them in the presence of a man under scrutiny for the disappearance of his wife in order to advance her agenda.

    Of course now Jacobson claims that if she were a man in swim trunks he would not have been fired. Jacobson says, “If I were a man, the story wouldn’t be an issue”. Again, typical liberal response. Now the moron who placed her children in jeopardy becomes the victim and claims gender bias is the reason for the reaction. Furthermore she claims a competing news station’s choice to air the event was improper when Jacobsen lack of professionalism, class, and judgment on her part became a story in itself.

    Only hypocritical liberals are capable of contorting the facts to fit their own agenda while at the same time claiming to be victims.

    Yes, and slow truck chases like the recent one resulting in the midair crash of two news helicopters.
