Legal Abuse: Lawyes Tie Man to Tree and Beat Him
This is a true story that was just reported by Reuters:
-
Lawyers tied a young man to a tree and beat him outside a courts, an official said on Wednesday. They rounded on the victim when he arrived at a court to settle a dispute with one of the lawyers.
TV channels showed the abusive lawyers tearing off the man’s shirt, tying him to a tree trunk and cutting bald patches into his hair. The 22-year-old victim was then beaten up.
A local official said he ordered police to file a case against the lawyers. The local Bar Association said it was investigating the attack.
Okay, it happened in India and the dispute was involving proposed arranged marriage. Despite the fact every time my Earthlink DSL goes down I talk to people in India, our cultures are world’s apart. In the U.S., American lawyers would show far less restraint in dealing with something like this and instead of a tree they would tie the poor guy up in court for years and years.
Here is a photo of Indian lawyers from a previous story.
