District Judge Elizabeth Halverson

“Vile, angry, degrading to anyone within her path”

We are talking about District Judge Elizabeth Halverson who might be one of the worst sitting judges ever. According to the blog Anything and Everything:

Halverson spent nine years as a fairly lowly law clerk. Was fired. Ran for one judgeship and remarkably won on her second try.

Orders the bailiff to give her foot rubs and back massages, an individual who has since sued her.

Calls her court clerk “the evil one” and “the anti-Christ”.

Demands that the staff arrive at 6:45 a.m. to wait for her arrival at 8 or 8:30 a.m.

Tells the staff to make her lunch.

Publicly refers to her husband as a “bitch.”

Has been told by other judges reviewing her abusive and erratic behavior to “get some psychological help.”

Made statements showing bias against attorneys, particularly those who didn’t give to her campaign. (Note her defense was that “Yes, she said it, but since nobody gave her money for her campaign, she’s not discriminating against anyone.”)

Update: “Judge Halverson banned from courthouse “

Haverson’s psychological state seems to be spiraling out of control and the Las Vegas Review-Journal has reported that she has been banned from the courthouse. In that same article it was reported that in the first four months since she took the bench she lost the entire first set of staff members she had hired.

“There was always some paranoia, but she’s gone nuts,” said Ileen Spoor, Halverson’s former judicial executive assistant.

Update: See comments below, commenter Stephen left some great links. Judge Halverson’s husband has a rap sheet and she has skipped out on a judgment to pay in a rent dispute. At one point she had her husband sworn in so she could ask him under oath if he had cleaned the house. What a piece of work. This is the person that the good voters elected to be judge.
