Not an Urban Myth: Spiders take up residence in Oregon boy’s ear

This should get your Spidey-Sense ‘tingling’
The itsy, bitsy spider went up the ear canal…
In what is sure to give nightmares to preteens as the story is told again and again, a fourth-grade boy was found to have two live spiders living in his left ear. The 8-legged invertebrates were living there for a least the last two weeks.
After complaining about a “popping” sound in his ear, his doctor flushed out the two arachnid interlopers which were about the size of a pencil eraser.
Jesse remembers his ear feeling a little funny over the next couple of days — not exactly painful, but uncomfortable. And he kept hearing a faint popping — “Like Rice Krispies,” he told his mother.
That popping sound turned out to be the spiders walking on his ear drum. The doctor who did the extraction reported that 15 years ago when he pulled a live moth from a patient’s ear.
