Sweet Irony: Lawyer picks up DUI client and gets DUI; Insert “bar” joke here

I’m here to pick up my client

I just love stuff like this. Shows that there is harmony in the universe.

Police arrested a Wisconsin lawyer for drunken driving after he went to the station to pick up a client who had been arrested for the same offense, reports WCCO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis.

Petri’s client, former Dane County Board member Patrick DePula, 34, was arrested early Thursday for drunken driving, Madison police spokesman Mike Hanson said. His blood alcohol concentration was 0.08 percent.

Petri, 64, said he had been out the same evening, had a couple of drinks and went home about 8 p.m. to watch a college basketball game. He said he had a couple more drinks, then went to bed.

He said police called around about 2 a.m. Thursday asking him to pick up DePula.

But when Petri arrived, he was given a preliminary breath test that indicated a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.09 percent and was placed under arrest for drunken driving.

Now if we could just read that Mark Geragos was the Scott Peterson treatment my life would be fulfilled.

With his probation he will likely have to stay away from establishments that serve alcohol. In other words, he’s being dis-barred.
