Santa Monica’s “Planned Rodenthood”; Joins Berkeley again in lunacy

Under pressure from the normal collection of activists who dominant policy in the People’s Republic of Santa Monica, the city has begun providing birth control to rodents in an effort to control the burgeoning squirrel population. Whereas pretty much any other city in the world (excluding Berkeley) would just trap the little varmits, Santa Monica is providing them with contraceptives.

Of course they tried the normal route but being Santa Monica that didn’t work.

The city hired Lefty Ayers, owner of Heritage Wildlife Management, to trap 165 squirrels and euthanize them with carbon dioxide. The carcasses were taken to a Cal State Bakersfield wildlife rehabilitation facility and fed to hawks returning to the wild.

Activists hounded Ayers, destroyed his traps and tried to steal supplies out of his truck.

Next up will be the protests that the carbon-neutral rodents should be given the choice of whether they want birth control and if so what kind. How about handing out really small condoms? The real problem, animal rights advocates will say, is a lack of services and educational opportunities for the squirrels. As it is they are forced to live in holes and spend much of their day’s scavenging for food and competing with the city’s numerous homeless people for handouts.

    Syd Manfredi Says:

Santa Monica officials are overlooking the most humane solution to the problem (and the most obvious, given the Westside demographic): Teach the squirrels to enjoy anal intercourse.
