What’s that white stuff in a twinkie anyway?

Here’s what we know and the Twinkie:

It’s 160 calories.
It’s been around since the 30s.
We liked them as kids but find them unbelievably disgusting today.
But we never really knew what they were made of. Until today that is.

If that ingredient list was meant to repulse me, it didn’t work. In fact, it was about 18 ingredients (and 60 syllables) fewer than I expected.
