Malibu Fire Shows Readers Do Have a Role In Traditional Journalism

Today’s Malibu fire (which burned 4 homes possibly including a home owned by Suzanne Somers) demonstrated the value of citizen journalism to a traditional media company like the LA Times. Along with the excellent photos by the Times staff photographer dispatched to the blaze, the Times website had reader-submitted photos of the fire as well.

Let’s just hope it wasn’t a LAT reader that started the fire giving the Tribune an easy reason to kill this promising initiative.
