Okay, he’s an “honorary” mayor. But Captain Stubing is my town’s mayor. Shouldn’t I have some sort of say in this? I guess he beats the previous guy…the always-zany Steve Guttenberg.

In fact, looking at all of the previous ‘mayors’ of Pacific Palisades one sees a ‘who’s who’ of bad actors (with a few exceptions):

1997 – Eddie Albert
1986 – Chevy Chase
1995 – Bob Saget
1984 – Dom DeLuise
1981 – Ted Knight
1979 – Bert Convy
1975 – Adam West
1969 – Peter Graves
1967 – Nanette Fabray
1957 – Vivian Vance
1953 – Jerry Lewis

Yes, these are the leaders that the good people of Pacific Palisades must call “Mr. Mayor” (or Mrs. Mayor in the cases of “No No” Nanette and Vivian Vance).

Fortunately, there have been a few good actors leading our town:

2000 – Anthony Hopkins
1977 – Walter Matthau
1961 – Doug McClure
1959 – Mel Blanc

Can you pick out the two mayors of Pacific Palisades?

While I’m too lazy to do the research, I’d put our honorary mayors up against any town in America in terms of bad sitcom actors.
