Bad Parenting: Microwaves are for food not babies

China Arnold: Arrested Killing her One Month Old Child

There is no humor in this story, just the continuing saga of people who should not be allowed to reproduce. China’s defense is that the baby sitter did it, an excuse disputed by the father of the child.

“The baby sitter ain’t had nothing to do with it.”

A one month old baby seems a tad young to be leaving with a baby sitter anyway. Another sad part of the story, China Arnold has three other children.

It is also horrible to think that this is not the first time that something like this has happened. In 2000, a Virginia woman was sentenced to five years in prison for killing her month-old son in a microwave oven.

From the blog Parents Behaving Badly:

What took so long to bust the bitch? The method of execution. Little is known about what effect microwave radiation will have on a child because…well, because no one’s been cruel and inhumane enough to commit such an atrocity. Sure, folks have floated the idea of using microwaves against electronics equipment and grown humans…but babies? And at the hands of one’s own mother nonetheless? Jesus. What an awful, awful way to die.

Surely this must be some kind of reporting error! Is such a thing even possible? I need to know that this is fiction not fact. It’s the kind of thing that gives you nightmares.

Sadly it’s not. The DA spent a year investigating before filing charges. It appears quite real.
