Small(ish) Town Policing vs The Big City
Report a burglary in progress in the City of Los Angeles and officers might visit later in the day to take your report. In Redondo Beach? You get a small army: after a call to police about a residential burglary, KNBC says,
“Officers from Redondo Beach were then joined by police from Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance and a helicopter from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. … A containment was set up around a five-block area in North Redondo Beach.”
Your correspondent can report that there were at least ten Redondo and Manhattan squad cars involved in the hunt by 9am, minutes after the burglary was reported. Try getting that in the City of L.A.

Three suspects were caught, the last when he left his hiding place (why? It seemed to be working so far …)
