Terror Scare in LA: Busted Water Main
Close call?
A water main blew the other day and was big news in our neighborhood though terrorism was ultimately ruled out as there have been no young Arabic looking men sighted in the area since…well, ever.

We all drove our cars through it and got a free car wash compliments of DWP.
That said, our neighborhood watch remains vigilent as even this accident meant we were without water for almost 90 minutes. What if it had been a real attack? We could be talking hours before water was restored. Remember: Homeland security starts at home.

I’m french and my english is not so good, so in advance, sorry about that.
I enjoy a lot this blog because its tone and its humor. Particulary, I found the french part (http://independentsources.com/category/france/) very interesting
About this topic “Busted Water Main” that ends with this sentence “Homeland security starts at home” :
I’m asking myself : is it humour or paranoia ?

For some reason that reminds me of the time that Virginia Head Football Coach Al Groh, when asked if he felt safe on the team charter shortly after 911, replied: “I’m not worried. There won’t be any Arabs on the plane.”

Well in retrospect it’s easy to describe the 90 minutes we didn’t have water as paranonia but you weren’t there. It was tough. We didn’t know how long we’d have to hold out and whether we’d have to drive to Ralphs for more bottled water. Showers were also a no-go. It was scary let me tell you.

In France we don’t use to wash ourself (according to this) so 90 minutes without water can’t be a problem
