Bad Parenting: Your infant son dies from your meth-laced breast milk
From the LA Times:
Amy Leanne Prien, a Perris, California mother and methamphetamine user accused of murdering her infant son with drug-laced breast milk, ended her long journey through the courts Monday by pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in an agreement with prosecutors.
Jacob, Prien’s baby son, died of “acute methamphetamine intoxication” in 2002 and has been in and out of court as the unusual case has faced numerous judicial challenges and appeals.
Her attorney, Stephen Yagman believes she be eligible or aprole in 18 months in part because of “good behavior,” an inappropriate term for someone who poisoned their 3-month old baby with meth. In fact Yagman was even cocky that he was able to get his baby killing client off so lightly that he said this about the prosecutor:
It would be morally wrong to hold hostage an idiot.
Isn’t it “morally wrong” to kill your baby? At a minimum doesn’t that make them the idiot instead of the people who are prosecuting them?
By the way, Yagman’s client isn’t the only bad mom to pass meth-laced milk on to their baby. In 2004, Teresa Tinoco admitted smoking methamphetamine during the weekend before feeding her baby breast milk leading to the death of her 5-week-old baby died. This also happened in Southern California’s “Inland Empire.”
In October 1992, Alicia Gillespie, of Corona (also in the Inland Empire), pleaded guilty to three counts of child endangerment. She was sentenced to six years in prison after her 24-day-old daughter died from methamphetamine passed through breast milk.
