What was Steve Irwin really like? Exhibit A: Scientific American Interview from 2001

The comments for Independent Sources previous posting on Steve Irwin (now totally almost 200) illustrate a debate on who exactly Steve Irwin was and what were his real contributions to wildlife and science beyond being an exuberant entertainer.

To further the discussion, we are linking to a 2001 Scientific American interview with Irwin and his family in Queensland, Australia. To the Scientific American interviewer, Irwin displayed a deep commitment to animals, education and environmental conservation–something that was not always apparent in his programs.

Update: Are stingrays being hunted down and killed by Irwin fans to avenge his killing?
