Klan Rallies at Gettysburg. Tourists Point and Laugh
via Ace of Spades
The Klu Klux Klan showing both their great sense in Public Relations and Fashion rallied at Gettysburg yesterday. I don’t think it was a rousing success.
About 30 Ku Klux Klan members proclaimed hatred for blacks, Jews, gays and Latinos as they stood behind barricades at the Civil War battlefield where Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.
Confederate re-enactors from Virginia protested the Klan’s adoption of the Confederate battle flag as an emblem and its claim to be a continuance of the Confederate cause.
“These guys don’t stand for anything I stand for,” said Tim McCown of Jefferson, Md. “And it’s time we disengage our flag from what they stand for.”
Representatives of the national Sons of Confederate Veterans also came to protest the Klan’s efforts to identify with the Confederacy. In a nearby park, churches and other groups held a Unity Day rally.

As one commenter at AoS said:
To quote Garth Ennis (from memory so possibly wrong) in the comic book graphic novel The Preacher, “Why is it that the people who most staunchly defend the superiority of the white race are the worst possible examples of it? You, yes you there — where the fuck is your chin?”
Personally I just don’t understand the whole white supremacy thing, especially when you combine it with wearing a dunce cap and a burka. To me the message that sends is, “I’m a stupid a**, please send me to prison so I can be repeatedly butt-raped“.

When I was a child in a suburb of Savannah, Ga., the klan was pretty active. It was routine for them to hold rallies just outside the Savannah city limits and burn crosses, give hate speches and just generally make asses of themselves.
My Dad caught one of his employees all robed up but without his hood getting ready for a ralley one night and said ” I always thought you were a man, I’m really disappointed”. The man was supremely embarrased and a couple of days later went to my Dad and said he was ashamed of himself and had quit the klan. I guess this is why they felt they had to hide their faces. They can’t do that now, but if they could they would because know what they are doing is wrong and less than manly.

These tools are a joke. I’m no, liberal. I’m no racial panderer either. However, if you hate simply for skin color your not only unmanly but just plain stupid. However, we need to recognize the likes of Sharpton, Jackson and Farakan(sp), to name three, are just as bad. Racism seems to be an equal opportunity employer of morons and scumbags.
