Waitress Gets Own ID When Carding Patron; Hilarity Ensues
Dumb luck!
What are the odds of this?
A woman, who works as a waitress at a bar, loses her wallet in another town from where she works. Then three weeks later a customer walks in and when carded hands the waitress her own stolen ID.
The perp, Maria Bergan, 23, was subsequently caught and charged with identity theft and receiving stolen property. She should have also been charged with being criminally stupid. Since she had been using the ID for the past several weeks didn’t she notice that the bartender looked just a little bit like the one in the picture she was tendering?
Bergan also apparently stole a credit card from the waitress and ran up $1000 of charges on the card.
“The odds of this waitress recovering her own license defy calculation,” police Capt. Guy Turner said Monday.
The story ending is pretty funny too. Bergan became suspicious of the reaction of the waitress and fled the bar before police could get there. However when asked her friends that she walked in with ratted her out and she was subsequently picked up. Yes, she didn’t bother asking them to leave with her.
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
