Yet another Deb Frisch update
Deb Frisch, blogger media sensation extraordinaire is back in the news again. This time in the Salem, Oregon Statesman-Journal.
In a July 17th article Frisch, who has relocated to Eugene states :
“It was in very bad taste … very, very, very horrible,” she said in a telephone interview with the Register-Guard newspaper. “I don’t think professors should do that. I crossed the line. I think what I did was unprofessional and wrong, but I don’t think the punishment fits the crime.“
What punishment? While many people were outraged and were contact the University of Arizona to demand her removal she made the decision to quit on her own. After making the decision and announcing it on her blog, she then told a commenter she had been planning to resign anyway so it was no big deal. Now she is claiming victimhood again.
Another question I have is Dr. Frisch’s basis for determing her actions were wrong. was it wrong because she is a professor or because it is just wrong to use vieled threats against a person’s child? Her basis for remorse seems without any underlying morality to me. If you’re not really sorry Deb, just come out and say so, I could at least kind of respect that. You would still be a sleaze but at least an honest one.
Oh and just to make thing’s complete, the closing paragraph of the article:
Frisch said losing her Arizona job was not that big a deal, since she had been thinking of returning to Eugene to finish a book.
“As hard as it is to see right now, this is part of my career plan,” she said.
So I guess the punishment wasn’t that severe afterall.
