Illegal Immigration Update - Washington State to Feds give us money for illegals
Requesting that the federal government pay for upkeep or take custody of 995 illegal aliens held in Washington state prisons, Christine Gregoire, Governor of Washington state, sent and invoice for $50,000,000 to US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales yesterday.
Governor Gregoire accuses the federal government of passing off costs to the states by not properly reimbursing for the true cost of incarcerating an illegal alien, and she justifies her demand for reimbursment by noting that the Constitution makes the fedearal government responsible for preventing illegal immigration.
Gregoires allegations may be true, but at least part of the blame for the illegal immigrant problem in Washington state has to do with local government policies. If I was Alberto Gonzales I would respond with criminal charges for malfeasenace of office against Gregoire and the Mayor and City Council of Seattle and any other Washington city that has instituted a sanctuary policy or voted to accept Matricula Consular cards as legal ID’s. Then I would hold a press conference announcing the charges and tell Gregoire, “OK Governor If you feel froggy jump.” But hey thats just me.
