CU to Ward Churchill: You’re Fired!
From Pirate Ballerina comes word that if you lied to get your teaching position, plagiarized while on the job, and pretty much have no place on a campus, that with a great deal of effort and legal fees (probably in the millions), you can actually lose your job.
CU Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano:
I have carefully reviewed the Report of the Investigative Committee, Professor Churchill’s responses to the Committee, and the Recommendations of the Standing Committee on Research Misconduct. I have met with and obtained the separate input of Provost Susan Avery and Todd Gleeson, the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. I met with Professor Churchill and his attorney, David Lane. After conducting the due diligence I felt was necessary, I have come to a decision regarding the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Research Misconduct pertaining to Professor Ward Churchill. Today, I issued to Professor Churchill a notice of intent to dismiss him from his faculty position at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Hopefully this will lead to the termination of any other college professors who lied about their ancestry to sell “ethnic art” as well as to get a tenured position for which they are not qualified and then commit just about every form of academic fraud possible all the while becoming a folk hero for extreme leftists with diminished capacities.
[Note: Yes we are aware that Mr. Churchill has 10 days to…blah, blah, blah. But let us at least enjoy this one moment where C.U. brass showed some commitment to the students who attend the university. Maybe now they’ll have the balls to address the problems with their football program.]

You know I had completely forgotten about that picture with the AK-47. If it had been any student or any other non-ethnic affliated teacher holding that weapon and advocating the overthrow of the US, or bombing abortion clinics or whatever the cause of the week was, do you think CU would have been as tolerant?

Like most major universities, CU has had a consistent problem of the lunatics running the asylum. Their football program is another area where the administration appears to have no say or control. There was probably a time where university administration actually ran these places. Those days are long gone.

everything that’s happened here is retaliation for Ward Churchill’s First Amendment free speech relating to 9/11.” I would warn attorney Lane that Churchill’s First Amendment rights are necessarily limited in an academic setting. I saw one CU football game this year. They were very disciplined and played with an angry fervor. But they were outsized at nearly every position. I would describe them as a bunch of little Eichmans.
