Missing: LAPD Blog Posting on “Freddy Krueger” Assailant

The following post showed up on my RSS reader for the LAPD blog however at some point after being syndicated it was pulled and cannot be found on the site. Why was it pulled? Cover-up? If Jason shows up and starts whacking people over the head on Sunset Blvd. are they going to squash that too afraid that some of cinema’s most notorious killers are cruising Hollywood is going to negatively affect tourism?

‘Freddy Krueger’ Character Involved in Stabbing

By lapdblog

Los Angeles: A man dressed as “Freddy Krueger”, the murderous fictional character from horror movies, was involved in a stabbing Saturday night in Hollywood.

On May 20, 2006, around 7:00 p.m., police responded to the 7000 block of Hollywood Boulevard for a reported stabbing. On arrival, they found 25-year-old Joseph Zachary, of Hollywood, dressed in a Freddy Krueger costume, comprised of a hat, wig, striped sweater and simulated scars. Zachary was wearing a brown leather glove on his right hand. Four of the glove fingers had 6-inch knives attached.

Zachary had been approached by another man, a Hollywood resident. The man and Zachary became involved in an altercation and began pushing each other. During the altercation, the man sustained a stab wound to his abdomen.

The victim was taken by paramedics to Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center, where he was treated for his injury and released.

The suspect, Joseph Zachary, was booked at Hollywood Area Station for 245 (A)(1) PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Here is the AP story as well as a link to a blog that captured a TV image of the actual claw used to slash the tourist.

[note: the photo was not part of the original story. That was our added touch. Also we are not sure why it was pulled but why bother having a blog if you aren’t going to post stories like this?]
