Kennedy’s Crash Alibi Sinking

“An apple does not fall far from the tree”

According to reports, witnesses are placing U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy at a Capitol Hill bar (the Hawk & Dove) before his automobile crash of last week. His being at a bar just before the accident is consistent with the police report of the 2:45 a.m. crash which cited alcohol as a factor. Kennedy was described as having slurring speech, being unsure on his feet, and having red and watery eyes.

If true, Kennedy will be under renewed pressure to resign. He has vehemently denied he was drinking or that the accident was the result of alcohol. Instead he cites his prescribed use of prescription painkillers and sleeping pills. It appears that he will violate one of the basic tenets of public life, don’t compound a mistake (even a bad mistake) with easily disproven lies.

Other parts of his story have been falling apart as well. At the scene of the accident, Kennedy told cops he was on his way to a House vote, even though Congress had adjourned three hours earlier and the last vote had been taken six hours earlier.

One final note, detectives are reportedly still trying to locate the woman who Kennedy claims he was with before the crash. The parallels between Patrick and his Dad’s escapades are so striking that even Independent Sources is going to leave them alone.
