NCAA declines 3 appeals on Indian mascots
Using its strong arm tactics to applease even its most politically correct critics, the NCAA has rejected appeals from North Dakota, Illinois, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
“The NCAA has a responsibility to make sure its events are treated with respect for all and making sure that the environment is fully respectful,” NCAA president Myles Brand said during a conference call.
It’s interesting that the NCAA feels that its calling includes determining in its sole descrection the social mores of this country’s universities instead of leaving these decisions to the students, faculty and administrations of each of those schools. Once the all-mightly NCAA tackles the rampent problem of abusive mascots hopefully they can turn their attention to solving crime, world hunger, and ending global warming.
