Weekend Edition: How Vulnerable Is Your Password?

This page estimates how long it would take different classes of computer to crack passwords based on a brute force generation of all possible combinations, taking into account password length and scope of characters (numeric only, etc). For instance, if you’re using 62 possible characters (upper and lower case, plus numbers) and an eight character password, your six character password could be cracked by a fast PC in 33 minutes.

For real security, throw in symbols like colons and dashes.
