Having surrendered to everyone else, France pondering an attack on Apple Computer

With its economy stagnant and its huge Muslim integration problems still simmering, the French Parliament has decided to focus on the burning issue of whether or not iPods should be forced to open up to other music services. The French are debating whether to require iPods to be able to play music purchased from competing Internet services, not just Apple Computer’s own iTunes Music Store. If they follow-thru with this it is likely that Apple will just pull out of the French market instead of altering their business model for just one territory. Hard to see how consumers, retailers, and especially musicians will be better off.

Evidently French politicians don’t think it’s fair that Apple has put out a superior product that consumers have been happy to purchase. The way to correct this situation is to unfairly target Apple and force them out of the market.

You have to love those French.
