LAPD Online Site Illustrates What’s Bedeviling LA’s New Crime-Ridden High
The Los Angeles Times reports how the Los Angeles Unified School District is grappling with the immense violence and crime at the new South LA High as students bring the problems that exist outside the school on to campus. The new LAPD online crime map that allows one to see reported crimes in any area of the city illustrates what the district is dealing with. In the picture below, each dot represents a reported crime within just two miles of the East LA campus during the 7-day period 3/4 to 3/11.

Red: Burglary (Property)
Dark Blue: Grand Theft Auto
Yellow: Theft from Vehicle
Aqua Blue: Personal/Other Theft
Orange: Robbery (Violent)
Light Blue: Aggravated Assault
Green: Rape
Yellow: Homicide
As a point of comparison, look at the reported crimes around another Los Angeles area high school, Pacific Palisades High School over the same distance (2 miles) and time period.
