Gutsy Radish Cheers Up Millions of Japanese Beaten Down by Economic Malaise

Things have been tough in Japan for a long time so it should be no surprise that sometimes they act just plain…weird.
It has been reported that a vegetable has captured the hearts of millions of Tokyo residents. This isn’t just any vegetable, but a gutsy little radish or “dokonjo daikon” which was spotted growing at the side of a Tokyo street.
A town spokesman said that “People discouraged by tough times were cheered by its tenacity and strong will to live.”
The gutsy radish is about 4 centimeters in diameter, with leaves that reportedly “span the width of a human hand.”
