CBS2 Weather Report Interrupted by National Service Weather Bulletin Telling Viewers to Turn to CBS2
In a moment of intense irony, the CBS 2 6 pm weather report was taken over by the National Weather Service suggesting viewers turn to their local broadcast stations for information relating to flash flood conditions in the Los Angeles area. Weathercaster Johnny Mountain’s audio was knocked out by the taped NWS message exactly at the point he was discussing the progress of the storm across the Southland. Now I’ll have to wait until 11 pm to see what it is the NWS was warning me about assuming they don’t knock that weather report out as well.
After the weather report was finished and which included no information on flash floods, Harold Greene was informed that flash flood warnings had been “crawled” during Mountain’s weather report. This was clearly news to Johnny Mountain. He could only say “okay” and clearly looked uncomfortable with the whole matter.
