When I was growing up they would rank the ten BEST dictators (I rooted for Idi Amin, who was always on the bubble but would often self-destruct by decapitating some of his citizens just before the final rankings). Now it's all about the bad news. If it bleeds it leads. If it goes boom we make room. If a tiger eats Roy we report it with joy. Make your wife bleed and you'll get a live feed. This obsession with ordinal rankings of negative phenomena I refer to as "The Mr. Blackwellization of America. And it needs to stop. We can have that gray-haired little fanny-jammer inspiring a cultural paradigm shift. Everybody has gotten so negative.
