Los Angeles Times Discovers Faculty Leftward Tilt
A sidebar in the L. A. Times’ Current section this morning summarizes, without comment, the lefty bias of college faculites today. For instance:
Academics who identified themselves as left or liberal
• in 1984 39%
• in 1999 72%Academics who identified themselves as right or conservative
• in 1984 34%
• in 1999 15%
The sidebar is paired with editorials covering academic political diversity (or the lack of it) and the controversy over UCLAProfs.com, a site we highlighted several days before their identification of out-there faculty created days of hand-wringing in the local media.
