Irony or Poor Taste? Challenger Disaster Memorial to Feature Music by John Denver
A memorial Mass in memory of Christa McAuliffe and her father will feature a seven-minute video, “Flying for Me” with lyrics and music by John Denver. This month marks the 20th anniversary of the Challenger space shuttle disaster that took the lives of McAuliffe and six other astronauts.
The musical selection is odd given that John Denver was killed in a senseless air crash in 1997. Of course it could have been worse, they could have chosen Queen’s “Another Bites the Dust”.
