“Law & Order” Episode Leads to Google Traffic Jam for “Holly Ashcraft”

On Tuesday, my pager went off indicating abnormal traffic pattern on Independent Sources. We were getting an unusual amount of search engine traffic for “Holly Ashcraft” as well as other related terms like “USC baby trash.” It turns out that Law & Order was running a show with a plot line mirroring the Ashcraft case. Look at the search engine traffic over this 32 minute period of an otherwise slow night:

A few hours after the show ended, search engine traffic returned to the usual Melissa Theuriau, Steve Erhardt, and Michael Hiltzik searches.
