Screw the Tour De France and Paris, Wait ‘Till They See San Jose
The Amgen Tour of California has posted what we think are new details about the Feb 19-26 Tour of California, announcing that riders such as Team CSC’s Bobby Julich and Dave Zabriskie will participate in the eight day, 700 mile race. It will start in San Francisco and ending in Redondo Beach:
Memo to San Jose: fire your PR department. While the description of San Francisco in the Tour’s materials includes the words “exciting,” “breathtaking,” and “internationally acclaimed,” San Jose boldly claims “the nation’s best public safety record of any metropolitan area.” SJ does make the dubious claim that the city has a “world-renowned quality of life,” which is certainly better than Martinez’s boasting about its new Amtrak station.
