Eugene, Oregon, Where EVERYTHING (Even Scouting) Is Left of Center

“Pagan Scouting Group Takes Root”

- headline, City/Region Section, Eugene (OR) Register Guard, 12/28

Last Saturday’s project: making neck cords out of green, tan, and brown strands:

“The three colors represent diversity, and we’re going to braid them into unity,” said one co-leader.

Later: a game of capture-the-flag, but where everyone cooperates instead of competes, and there are no winners or losers.

What can you say about Oregon? It is the gathering place for all the nut cases, left over flower children and throwbacks in the country. Oregon is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been but on my visits I felt as if I had left gravity at the border because so many people were just floating along.
God Bless Them but I’m glad I grew up. There is so much more to explore in life.
