For the past several years, the bizarre sex abuse case of a judge has been played out in the courts, newspapers and local talk radio. For once common sense prevailed and despite all of his inside knowledge how to game the system, ex-judge Ronald C. Kline has run out of options and has agreed to plead built to possessing child pornography on his home computer. Presumably the other charges (including oral copulation with a 14-year old male) will be dropped. Kline had initially protested that his privacy rights had been violated when he had been found to have pictures of hundreds of naked young boys on his computer performing sexually explicit acts. He will face 33 months in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

Like a lot of predators, Kline used the Internet to access his materials, the Internet was also his undoing as a Canadian hacker used the Internet to get into Kline’s system and discover over 1500 pictures as well as his sexual predator diary. Over the past four years, Kline has tried every possible defense–particularly that the search was illegal. It was clear to him and everyone else that he was guilty and had been caught, however he was holding out to get out on a technicality. He even tried to take it to the Supreme Court that wisely declined to hear his appeal.

Kline’s diary contained references to body parts of minor-age boys: “It appears from the diary that the author watches and observes these minor-age boys at such places as shopping malls, little league baseball games, and the shower area of a local athletic club. In addition, the diary recounts the author’s efforts to make contact with these minor-age boys.”

For once common sense has won out and a predator who has admitted about his interest in minor boys and that everyone knew was guilty will go to jail.
