Book report: “Will They Fly a Plane Into Our House?”
I just came across a book (albeit from 2001 so I’m kind of slow to the mark on this one) called Will They Fly a Plane in our House? It is about teaching kids about terrorism. As you can imagine, it alternates between inane and ridiculous. Every family is different but we are going to leave terrorism, beheadings, child prostitution, etc. off of the dinner table conversation list until they are old enough to be misguided liberals. (I can already hear my daughter saying “Why don’t we just buy homes for all of the homeless then they won’t be homeless anymore?”). Best book tip: limit kids watching the news. Worst book tip: “Helping Box” (see below).

Observations from Ace of Spades:
I’ve got to say that cover picture doesn’t seem very reassuring to me. And I’m an adult. You’ve got a plane flying into a house, for crying out loud, and even the dog is terrified. Nothing soothes a scared child like the pictorial statement that Even your dog is going to be offed.
At one point the book discusses a never-will-be-implemented-in-reality concept of a “helping box” to encourage selfless helping by kids to which Ace had this to say:
What kind of pinko metrosexual cryptosocialist p*ssy-sh*t are they teaching our kids these days?
Of course there are already spoofs on the book’s cover. Something’s Awful has dozens. Here are three of my favorites.

Could this be the worst idea of all time for a children’s book?
