Run Santa Run!

4,600 “Santas” ran the annual Santa Run in the UK. The BBC reported that the winner completed the 4.5 mile course in 18 minutes. Either this guy used reindeer or the BBC is wrong because that would be 4 minute mile pace which is a tad fast for a guy in a Santa suit and beard.

Now if you think that is 4,000+ “Santas” at a race is not all that unique, at least in England. In Liverpool, another 4,000 or so turned out for a 5k at a competitive Santa race:

And if that wasn’t weird enough, in 2005 organisers were aiming for a different record - the largest number of Santas yo-yoing at the same time. (Sadly no photo available.)

It should be noted that the U.S. is not immune to staging its own Santa runs and up to 8,000 are expected at a Santa race in Las Vegas, NV.
