Kerry Succinctly Answers a Question: All Shocked!

Who is this being that looks and sounds like John Kerry but responds succinctly and directly?

Standing outside the big white government mansion he had hoped to call home, Sen. John Kerry on Thursday offered a terse assessment of how he lost last year’s election to a president whose approval ratings are now in the tank.

“9/11,” Kerry said without hesitation.

The Massachusetts Democrat refused further analysis. “No assessments,” he said as he walked down the White House driveway. “This is not the time and place for it.”

No doubt much will be made of this story that came from RAW. Wizbang covers it here under the headline “Kerry blames election loss on Sept. 11 attacks.” But that is completely missing the point since Kerry had previously alluded to the attacks as a central cause of his loss. No, the real story is that Kerry responded to a question with a short, succinct, direct response! He did not draw it out into a filibuster-like, meandering soliloquy that dragged on so long that everyone forgot what the original question was. He didn’t mention Vietnam, his father, or the American people. He just gave his answer and then went quiet. Is this a new John Kerry? Remember that it was just a few months ago when he nearly stopped the OLN coverage of the Tour de France with a marathon-like answer to a simple, non-political question. This could be a new day for John Kerry. One where he answers questions asked of him.

Kerry’s other comments given at the news conference are covered by the Democratic Daily.

Update: What does one reader at the Democratic Daily have to say about us:

At least Kerry’s answers are far more coherent and rational (even if not always succinct) than the writing at Indepdent Sources.

Ouch!
