Bill Said To Use Every Icon In The Clip Art Library …
Microsoft management, apparently intent on illustrating how big its collective brains are, showed these Powerpoint slides at a recent developer’s conference. Are their graphic designers compensated per icon?

If you’re wondering where you fit in, you’re a node on the “People Network”

This slide was titled “How we trap the customer so they can’t escape.”

This one is “The final assault of Microsoft platforms.” Bill Gates explained that once individuals were completely cocooned in Microsoft products, every citizen of every developed country would pay a unitary annual license fee via their national taxing authority.
Microsoft’s graphics folks should read Edward Tufte’s “The Cognitive Style of Powerpoint,” (summary here) in which the Yale’s guru of information design indicts “slideware” for sins including the loss of the space shuttle Challenger.

Heh, doing graphics for a living I’ve got two of Tufte’s books, saw him speak and know the Challenger story.
Not only is the cognitive style of Powerpoint crap, it’s absolute rubbish as a graphics program too - and I’m not a Mac-guy.
