Steve Jobs Gets a Rare Facial

Apple’s Steve Jobs offers to give OSX away FREE for the One Laptop Per Child project laptop project but is rebuffed. Instead the project will go with Red Hat Linux.

It should be noted (as I only learned from reading a comment to the Slashdot story) that Red Hat is a contributor to the project. Thus, as they say in the business, “c:/duh”.

The answer given to Jobs besides the fact that unlike Red Hat, Apple is not a donor to the project, is that they are looking for a 100% open source solution. If this works we are going to see a generation of kids grow up not understanding why old geezers like us allowed ourselves to get tied to proprietary software.

We admit the above photo and accompanying Street Youth story have nothing to do with Apple but so far have not received any complaints. Odd.
