West Wing Fair and Balanced?
NBC’s West Wing — which Ms. Senior Administration Official loyally watches, but I refuse to, had its live ‘debate’ the other night — and it might have been worth seeing. Radley Balko at TheAgitator.com posts:
It’s a sad state of affairs when the most eloquent defense of free markets, private initiative, and limited government uttered by a politician in two decades has come from a fictitious presidential candidate played by an actor (Alan Alda) with leftist politics.
Still, the West Wing staff ought to be credited. Not only did they not creat a caricature of a Republican, they created a better Republican than any currently serving in Washington.
Russell Roberts at Cafe Hayek said “There were a few missteps here and there, but overall, it was the best defense of limited government I’ve heard from a candidate since Reagan.”
Despite that, and likely reflecting the demographics of the soft-core Democratic porn that is West Wing, a Zogby poll found that viewers would hand the election to Jimmy Smits’ Matt Santos (D-TX) over Alan Alda’s Arnold Vinick (R-CA), 59% – 29%.
