Unpaid interns go on strike? Only in France

The WSJ is reporting that this week while muslims in France have been rioting another group disenfranchised individuals is protesting…stagiaires (aka “interns”). They marched for steady wages and benefits in their internships. This was a preview of a nationwide intern strike set for November 14th.
Unlike the uneducated generally poor off minorities who are rioting in Paris, the intern demonstrators are generally well-educated, middle class. As the WSJ reports, since internships are all about learning about what real jobs are like, striking makes perfect sense since that is what French workers do so well.
All of this negative press about French internships can’t be good for this company who charges you over a thousand dollars for the right to be a French intern for one to two months. (Le Scam).
