The World CAN Wait

To the surprise of no one in their right mind, the much-hyped “World Can’t Wait” protests fizzled today.

We reported last week on what was supposed to be a huge day of protests that would start to push the Bush Administration from office, to be replaced by … something else (they weren’t specific, but it didn’t involve Republicans or Democrats).

Across the country, not much happened.

In San Francisco, protesters proved again to be their own worst enemy.

Last summer at a G-8 protest, they broke windows, set fires, and injured a police officer.

Today, “The World Can’t Wait” protest in San Francisco featured Molotov cocktails, including one that burned a police officer’s jacket.

By contrast, in Los Angeles protesters merely succeeded in irritating thousands of commuters as police were forced to close streets in and around Westwood.

The protest appears to have failed to attract the huge number of supporters that organizers, backed by the Revolutionary Communist Party, were hoping for. Their website asked for massive protests; in Chicago, even the organizers could only claim 500 protesters (and that to always-uncritical Reuters).

Update: Michelle Malkin promises some photos from NYC later tonight.

Update 2: Kuru Lounge reports lackluster protesting in Seattle. If you need a humor break, see the inane comments by some of the marchers.
