USA Today uses digital imagery to bring out Condi’s Satanic side
Remember 10 or so years ago when OJ Simpson’s Time magazine photograph was doctored up to make him look guilty? (Imagine that? Of course they should have just painted specs of blood on him for the same effect).

Well, it’s USA Today’s turn and they’ve decided that since they could not find sufficiently evil photograph of Condoleezza Rice on such short notice so they just touched up one giving her really eerie and creepy eyes. (Michelle Malkin has the original–undoctored–image and the email address to USA Today if you are so inclined).

Independent Sources‘ Photoshop experts believe that USA Today digitally lifted the eyes from Heaven’s Gate leader Robert Applewhite.
Powerline’s experts came up with their own analysis of what effect USA Today was going after.

Michele Malkin cracks me up! But seriously, does anyone actually believe that photo editors and web designers have the time or inclination to come up with evil conspiracies? After hours of manipulating crap on a computer screen, you start seeing pixels in everything. Her eyes were too dark in the photo. She needed contrast. She ended up with a little too much. Get over it. It’s a woman in a bad picture. Nobody defaced the flag or the word of God!

Thank you for your concern regarding the photo of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that was published Oct. 19 on USATODAY.com. As you know, Rice’s eyes appeared unnaturally bright in the photo.
I’d like to explain how that happened. USATODAY.com, like other news organizations, often adjusts photos for sharpness and brightness to optimize their appearance when published online. In this case, a USATODAY.com editor sharpened the photo and then brightened a portion of Rice’s face. Those changes had the effect of distorting the photo and failed to meet our editorial standards for accuracy and integrity. The photo has been replaced with a properly adjusted copy and an editor’s note has been published here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-10-19-rice-congress_x.htm. The photo did not appear in the USA TODAY newspaper.
The editors of USATODAY.com will make every effort to ensure that something like this doesn’t happen again.
